# Plans and usage

> What Koppar costs: three free designs, your own model API key, the published prices for pay as you go, Builder and Team, and how teams and seats work.

Every account starts with three free designs, with no card. After that you pay for finished boards, or bring your own model API key.

## Free designs

A design runs on Koppar's model keys until your free generations are used. Every schematic you generate, edit or retry uses one; the composer and **Settings → Usage** show how many are left. A board that fails KiCad's check is not charged.

## Your own API key

In **Settings → Your API keys**, add a key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini. Runs on your key are not counted against your free designs and bill to your provider account. With more than one key stored, you choose which provider does the work. A key is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again; only its last four characters are displayed.

Design work driven from [your own agent](/agents/overview) over MCP, the CLI or REST uses your agent's model and costs no Koppar generations.

## Prices

| Builder | €39 / \$39 per month | Freelancers and hardware startups. 5 finished boards a month included, unlimited edits and re-runs, more boards at the per-board price. |
| Team | Per seat, set with you | Design bureaus and companies. Seats for the whole team, one shared balance, designs not counted, invoicing and IP terms. |

Prices are in euros before VAT in Europe, and in US dollars excluding tax elsewhere: set prices, not a conversion. A finished board is one that passed the [release gate](/engine/verification): Gerbers, BOM and the KiCad project.

## Teams and seats

Create a team in **Settings → Team**. The owner invites colleagues by email; they join when they sign in with that address, and a pending invitation holds a seat. A design started by a member draws from the team once that member's own free designs are used.

Seats come with a plan or with board credits. On a paid team, edits to an existing design are free. The owner sees the team's ledger: every plan change, seat change and board credit, with the balance after it.
