A Koppar design ends in something a fab and an assembler accept. This page covers what you get, where the prices come from, and how each manufacturer takes the board.

The release gate

Gerbers, drill files, IPC-2581, ODB++ and the order package are released only when KiCad reports zero DRC errors and nothing unconnected, and every part has its footprint. A board that is close is not released as “done”: you get the board, the DRC report and the open nets to work from, and the studio’s agent can fix it with you. See Verification.

Bill of materials

Every line of the BOM is matched to a real listing from Mouser or JLCPCB’s parts catalogue (LCSC).
  • Price at your quantity. The price break that covers your board count, rounded up to the seller’s minimum order and order multiple, so the total is what the order costs.
  • Stock you can see. Parts you can buy rank first; obsolete parts are left out when anything else fits. When only out-of-stock listings exist, the line is kept and flagged in red, never silently dropped.
  • Alternates. Up to three per line, each labelled: cheaper, more stock, JLCPCB basic library, second source. Pin any of them and the BOM, the totals and the order files follow.
  • Ready for JLCPCB assembly. LCSC part numbers are written into the assembly BOM and into the KiCad files (LCSC, MPN and manufacturer fields). JLCPCB “basic” parts are preferred, since every “extended” part adds a setup fee.
  • Saved with the design. A design’s prices are kept with it and refreshed when you ask, so reopening a board does not re-query every line.

Manufacturers

Nothing is sent anywhere without you: every handoff starts from your click, after you confirm the upload.
One click, no AISLER account needed. The board files (Gerbers, drills, ODB++, a netlist) and the component placement are uploaded, and you land on your project on AISLER to choose options and order there.
A live board quote in the studio, from PCBWay’s partner API, so the order total includes the boards. The order itself is placed and paid on PCBWay, with the order files. Assembly is added on PCBWay’s side.
Open JLCPCB’s quote page and upload gerbers.zip; for assembly, upload bom-assembly.csv and cpl.csv from order.zip. The BOM already carries LCSC part numbers, so JLCPCB matches the parts without a manual search. ORDER.md lists the settings to pick.
The same order.zip: every fab takes Gerbers, and the BOM and pick-and-place files are in the common CSV formats assemblers read.

The order total

The studio adds up the parts at your quantity, JLCPCB setup fees for extended parts, and the PCBWay board quote, and names anything the total does not include yet (shipping, a quote that is unavailable), so the number is never silently incomplete.

From your own agent

The same steps are agent tools: get_bom and choose_bom_part for the BOM, get_fab_status for the release gate, get_order_price for the total, list_order_providers and send_order_to_provider for the handoff. See Your own agent.
